Focus

In the wake of disturbing events and tragedies in Boston, I find myself needing to stop and notice the beauty and the good around me.

A simple walk around in my backyard in my bare feet helps remind me that not all is lost and there is still good and hope in the world.

The first mailbox flower to return

The Christmas amaryllis that decided to bloom again in spring.

Fresh shoots from an elder tree that wasn't dead after all.

My own baby wisteria. It isn't lush with purple flowers this year, but it survived transplanting last year and may take over the woods in southern glory twenty years from now. Hope for the future.

The gift of being able to spend the day with my boy on a school field trip...and even having him say thank you!

My first time lying on a bed of nails

These boys had an amazing amount of energy. I had to go to bed by 8:45pm after a full day with them exploring Discovery Place in Charlotte. They should name this exhibit Rainforest Monkeys and just let the kids go bananas like they were in the afternoon.
