1. My own embarrassment. I saw my husband pulling into his office parking lot, and assuming he was alone, flirtatiously hiked up my skirt and stuck out my leg, as if to pull him over. Darn tinted windows. He was not alone. His Dad and Uncle whistled for me as I turned pink!
2. My kid deciding that she did not want the responsibility of pets after all, so she set her tiny toy-store frogs free from their murky aquarium and that ended the talk of "I want a dog" for a while. Goodbye, Polka and Dot. I hope you didn't become part of the pond food chain.
3. Girly sleepover parties. We had a houseful of fifth grade girls over to celebrate the end of the school year. More pink lemonade cupcakes and ice cream sandwiches. New googles that fit.
4. Understanding aunties. Aunt Nee Nee took our oldest daughter out to escape the sleepover craziness for some Nee Nee-and-me one-on-one time during the party. Any one who volunteers to take a preteen girl shopping is A-OK in my book.
5. Going to see The Great Gatsby with girlfriends.
6. Having a girlfriend text me a link to Jen Hatmaker's blog post about the end of the school year madness. Solidarity as moms try to crawl to the finish line, only to meet the starting line of summer.
7. Identical twins chicken- fighting in our neighborhood pool. The utter chaos that is Marco Polo, Categories, and Fish and Minnows
8. The first purple bloom on our butterfly bush. The first gladioli bloom. The first purple Mexican petunia. The first hydrangea blossom and first gardenias.
9. Twinkle lights strung across my screened in porch reminding me of being at a cafe on vacation. They are not actually hung up yet. They are still in the box from Target, but in my mind, they are glorious!
