After quiet times in the morning, we headed out to the trampoline park and let the kids jump out some energy. Then they were thirsty, so we spent $14 on bottled water at the restaurant for lunch. Ouch!
Then back to another section of the park where Will had not yet played. The girls took turns racing one another to see who could beat her own former time. It is interesting how much these girls love each other and how fiercely they are competing against one another already. When we played the affirmation game while waiting for lunch, we had to explain, just because we say that one child is smart that doesn't mean that we are saying that another child is NOT as smart. We have five smart children, and each of our children have different strengths. This seemed to be a hard concept to get across as everyone is trying to find (or fight for) his or her place. All of our children are loved the same, but they are not the same, and we would never want them to be.
We have done almost all of our sight-seeing on foot and wonder if we were to take a day and walk around our own city, what kinds of things we might see. If we go downtown at all, we drive by architectural treasures and street musicians on our way back home to the suburbs. Maybe we'll take a Davis family field trip on a day when it's not 114 degrees heat index!

A band of Latvian guys dressed up as peasant women playing the Party Rock Anthem
A signpost that was covered in traditional wool patterns.
Interesting statues everywhere. Will wanted his picture made with this one.
Is this wheat? These decorations are still leftover from last week's celebration.
This was my personal favorite find of the day on the sidewalk: a tea house that will be on my outing list for the next time I get to walk on my own.
I would love to study anything here.
Did you know that the first Christmas tree was actually in Riga, not Germany as I had thought? 1510

Hey sweetie. Your painting is beautiful! Knowing you, you already have the perfect spot in your house picked out for it. Can't wait to see it in its place of honor!
ReplyDeleteWe missed you at church this morning. We laughed when we heard that Andy had already checked in with Brandon this morning. Once a Command Man, always a Command Man. ;-) We miss your presence but everything is rolling along just fine... great lesson and sermon this morning!
It is a LEETLE bit cooler today but still feels like sticking your head in the oven whenever you venture out. We are planning to stay inside this afternoon and have 'cave time'.
We love love love the Davises and miss you! The countdown to your return is on! And Taryn- will you want a GNO next week for your birthday, or some cave time of your own?
Love
B
GNO!
DeleteWe definitely missed you at church today. The good news is that you're missing the heat. We set an all-time SC record two days ago at 109 degrees. It was a balmy 106 yesterday. Today, I think it's 104 or so but the humidity is much worse than Friday. It was 91 degrees when we left for church this morning...nice!
ReplyDeleteKeep the pics coming!
Wow! I have really enjoyed reading your journal. What a wonderful record of your daily blessings (and struggles too:). Just wanted to let you know we continue to pray for you and definitely missed your presence in Sunday School today!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Mandy for all the Abrams
p.s. forgot to mention that Robert, our friend we bring to church, accepted Christ at youth camp this past week! We are so excited for him and look forward to his baptism in later July. And I can't remember if you can access Youtube, but Jenny sang an arrangement of How Great Thou Art this morning in worship that is the same as Carrie Underwood/ Vince Gill's on Youtube. What a BLESSING. If you can get Youtube, look it up.
