Somehow I expected more from fourteen year olds
My husband was out of town this week- so this provided a perfect creative opportunity to "get messy, make mistakes, get involved". When I showed him this picture of our kitchen he agreed that we would have had to tranquilize him in order for him to find any joy in our gingerbread experiments.
We ran out of time over the Christmas break to make a gingerbread village, so we decided January was just as good of a time for snow scenes... Even if the gingerbread smelled a little rancid!
"The secret of celebrating Christmas is to empty oneself of all expectations so that there is room for the unexpected, or even the miraculous- like a star over a stable - to appear." (Quote found in Victoria magazine)
We did spend a nice afternoon together and unplugged for a few hours.
That's still something.
