We thought that most of our trip would look like this:
But we were blessed with amazing weather and temperatures- only one rainy afternoon!
We arrived two days after the Queen's birthday celebration, so we missed seeing the royal family. However, we were able to soak up the wonder of thousands of tiny details that make travel so fun. Such as:
Funny signs and expressions
We got plenty of experience traveling on the Tube (Underground)
Afternoon tea was a welcome break from the full days of sight-seeing
Window-shopping at Harrod's... We decided not to buy the gold iPhone and other luxury items sold here!
Watching a beautiful mast ship sail under the Tower Bridge
Watching street performers and everyday folk through the lens of a camera
Exploring the Bristish Museum- seeing the Rosetta Stone after reading about it in various books and movies
Catching up with my friend Wendy after 17 years. We taught in Cameroon together and she is now a chaplain at Oxford. She hosted a group of us on our way back to the US after our time with Wycliffe.
Walking where C.S. Lewis and Tolkein studied...seeing inspiration for Narnia everywhere.
Inspiration for Hogwarts Great Hall
I'd be content to read in cathedral courtyards all week.
